Augmented Reality Cosmetic Mirror
This dual-sided digital cosmetic mirror was designed as a pilot for the next-generation makeup demo experience. Customers can use the mirror for digitally guided tutorials and augmented reality try-ons.
The three generations of prototypes built required a mix of custom circuitry, specially sourced parts, and purpose-built software. Through testing and feedback, I was able to hone in on the customer’s desired camera placement, light presets, finish choices, and many other key details.
Problem:
Customers often leave makeup demo sessions with minimal information about how to reproduce the steps just presented to them. Additionally, experimenting with different looks can be tricky when working with high quality cosmetics.
Solution:
A mirror that compliments the professional cosmetic artists’ skills with an array of video capture, virtual try-on tools, and lighting settings that emulate different environments.
